The recently reopened Gateshead Leisure Centre offers a modern, spacious pool environment that’s well-maintained and ideal for swimmers of all ages and abilities. The family-friendly setting makes it a welcoming space where parents and carers can relax while children build their skills in the water.

Make a splash at Gateshead's vibrant community hub
Our team of expert instructors are here to support swimmers of all ages and experience levels at this wonderful community hub. From babies and tots to teens and beyond, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn this vital skill and have fun while doing so.
We provide necessary equipment for all levels, from swimming aids for beginners to more advanced training resources for higher stages. Swimming hats are recommended for children with long hair but are not compulsory.
Swimming goggles are encouraged to enhance the learning experience and facilitate submersion activities. Babies and toddlers must wear swim nappies and be accompanied in the pool by an adult.
The centre boasts three fantastic pools with dedicated spectating areas, including a café area overlooking the separate small pool. The main pool and teaching pool are maintained at an average temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, while the small pool is slightly warmer at 31 degrees Celsius.

How to find us
Gateshead Leisure Centre offers convenient parking with ample spaces available. Please use the main entrance, and you’ll find the changing rooms located past reception on your left.
The changing rooms are communal with private cubicles, including larger ones specifically designed for parent and tot changing. Showers are also communal within the changing facilities.
